Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on an investigation by the U.S. Department of Interior, following a complaint that Baxter State Park does not comply with the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The special investigator in the case has advised the park to alter a number of roadside facilities and cabins so they will comply with the ADA, but the park will not be required to open the new West Branch road to increased vehicle use. Gordon McCauslin of Millinocket, who filed the complaint, said he is disappointed with the West Branch ruling, but pleased that the ruling requires altering of facilities to make them more accessible.
