Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on on Florida Power & Light (FP & L), which has offered a "cap and trade" plan for meeting tougher air pollution standards at its Wyman Station oil-fueled power plant on Yarmouth's Cousins Island. Neither Gov. Agus King nor Martha Kirkpatrick, commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection, is raising serious objections. FP & L seeks to avoid the $50 million cost of retrofitting the 40-year-old plant with state-of-the-art pollution controls by instead of spending $10 million on a "cap and trade"
