Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on Gov. Angus King's $280 million supplemental budget. The largest portion, about $44 million, would plug a shortfall in Medicaid costs. Other big ticket items include $30 million for transportation infrastructure, $32 million for the Rainy Day Fund, and $20 million for computer purchases and other technology for schools. Shortly after King's budget address, the Center for Economic Policy in Augusta released a report on economic inequality in Maine in which the center claimed that King's budget addresses income inequality only indirectly, and with insufficient resources.
