Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on a new rail route through Portland proposed last week by Gov. Angus King. The proposal is part of a $10.5 million upgrade of tracks from Portland to Brunswick that is included in King's supplemental budget, and would open Maine's rail system to the St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad of Auburn. King's plan would locate a Portland station on Marginal way, using an abandoned Guilford spur line and a state right-of-way beneath Route 295.
