Abstract
"Perspectives" piece noting that the current rise in health-care costs are largely due to the high price of prescription drugs; but that little is likely to be done to bring costs under control unless, as seems unlikely, the industry becomes alarmed by the public reaction to its unrestrained marketing and profiteering and focuses a bit more on public service-- or until the the agitation of health-care form becomes a cyclone of public resentment, forcing government to act to reverse 25-years of deregulation.
