Abstract

Editorial critical of the King administration and Commissioner Lee Perry of the state Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, virtually abandoning the public's right to use Mountain View Pond by agreeing not to build an access road to a state owned lot, and by agreeing to require visitors to the pond to register at Big Squaw Mountain Resort and use a private road. The editorial notes that correspondence with resort manager Jim Confalone makes clear that Confalone doesn't want riff-raff using the pond and the registration and gated access is his way of keeping the number of visitors down. The precedent is described as troubling.
