Abstract
An Androscoggin County Jail official who had to set inmates free because of lack of space plans to ask other counties to consider joining with Androscoggin to establish a regional jail. Capt. John Lebel, administrator at the jail, released six inmates on furlough May 3 and plans to release another six today. Lebel said he picked nonviolent offenders whose time was almost up and who had been well-behaved. The population at the 10-year-old jail reached 121 on May 3, three more than allowed by state law.
