Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on the Bar Harbor Film Festival, which is folding nine months after its debut. Unable to pay off the $49,000 debt racked up in 1999 or secure adequate funding for a scaled down 2000 event, board members were expected to agree this week to call it quits. Jeff Dobbs, elected to chair the festival's board in March, said there are few alternatives. The '99 festival raised about $90,000 but spent almost $138,000, including about $14,000 since Jan. 1. The board planned to move the 2001 festival to June, but Dobbs said that without a miracle, that event would not happen either.
