Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on Carrabassett's new Anti-Gravity Center. An unusual twist on indoor recreation, the center will provide the essentials such as a track, tennis and basketball courts, an aerobics center and weight room, as well as the state's only indoor skate bowl, a climbing wall and three trampolines, complete with harnesses. The center is the result of a unique partnership between the town and Carrabassett Valley Academy, a private high school that offers training in competitive skiing and snowboarding. Both are paying half of the $1.2 million price tag to make the project possible, and will split use of the facility roughly 70-30, with the town holding the higher figure.
