Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on a study recently released by the Maine Center for Economic Policy, which reports that Maine continues to lag behind most other states in economic growth despite low unemployment and slowly increasing wages. The report, titled "State of Working Maine 2000," provided a detailed breakdown of the state's family household incomes, individual wages, changes in seasonal employment and the accelerating trend away from manufacturing and natural resources-based industries to service sector jobs.
