Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on Gov. Angus King's Oct. 12 announcement that Maine will be the first public land manager to concurrently undertake audits from the Forest Stewardship Council and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative programs. One audit team will do both reviews, in which the state will seek certification that its forestry practices meet strict environmental and socio-economic standards to ensure long-term sustainability.
