Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on Canada geese that have been hanging around Puddledock Pond in Fort Fairfield for the past two years. Local residents are expressing concerns centered around sanitation, because the beach and pond's water are being fouled by droppings, and the local water district superintendent says the town's drinking water is in danger of cryptosporidium contamination. Town Manager Dan Foster said the town has been issued a federal permit to shoot the geese, but local resident Jean Thompson vehemently opposes the shoot. An open council meeting is being scheduled to discuss the issue.
