Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on 16 household wells in Machiasport that were found to be contaminated by industrial solvents and fuel oil six years ago. Residents are still living on biweekly deliveries of bottled water as they continue to wait for a long-term solution. The federal government claims responsibility for the contaminants, trichloroethylene (TCE) and petroleum hydrocarbons, that seeped into a nearby aquifer during the military's use and disposal of materials at the former Air Force Radar Tracking Station near Miller and Howard mountains.
