Abstract
"Books & the Arts" piece on "People, Places, Plants," the Falmouth-based gardening magazine, which is Maine's fastest growing and most successful publication. With a circulation of 52,000, and a growth rate of 8,000 new subscribers each year for the past five years, Paul Tukey's creation is well on its way to becoming the region's publishing triumph of the decade. Tukey, 39, was a journalism student at the University of Maine in Orono, and worked as a reporter and sports editor for the Portland Press Herald for ten years, before beginning work on the first issue of his magazine in 1995.
