Abstract

The Machiasport Board of Appeals on Friday voted unanimously that it has no authority to hear any appeals to the decision permitting construction of a 480-foot U.S. Cellular phone tower in the center of town. An attorney representing the cellular company successfully argued that an ordinance passed in November giving the Appeals Board authority to hear complaints was retroactive and could not apply to the case.
