Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on a decision by Great Northern Paper Co. not to plow the Telos Road this winter, which is forcing the state to pick up the job as far as Chamberlain Bridge. North of there, other landowners are trying to keep some road access for harvesting operations, camp owners and their clientele. Great Northern stopped plowing Jan. 12 because it had no need to keep the road open this winter. Tom Morrison, director of the Bureau of Parks and Lands, estimated his agency will spend up to $4,000 to have the road plowed by a private contractor. The road passes through two-and-a-half townships.
