Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on the Maine Library Association, which is the first plaintiff in a suit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union challenging the constitutionality of a federal law that would filter the Internet information library patrons may access. The new Child Internet Protection Act requires all school and public libraries using federal funds to implement filtering technology and establish a policy that specifies which materials will be unavailable through their computers.
