Abstract
"Feature Story" piece profiling state senator Tom Sawyer, R-Bangor, who spent most of his adult years building a solid waste empire from what his father started with a single garbage route in 1962. In 1995, Sawyer sold the business to Vermont-based Casella Waste Systems. Last year, Sawyer spent $153,065 ($144,000 of his own money), in his successful effort to defeat former Rep.
