Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on a legislative bill sponsored by Sen. Tom Sawyer, R-Bangor, that would create a commission to study expanded plastics recycling to reduce toxic emissions. According to the State Planning Office, only 7 percent of all plastics were recycled in Maine in 1999. The bill is opposed by the Maine Grocers Association.
