Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on a battle over seaweed in Bristol. Preservations say the seaweed should be left to rot and fertilize the dune grass on the beach. But town officials plan to rake the beach to make it presentable for tourists. The battle is being waged between Dana Dyer, who wants the beach managed in a "business-like manner" and who won a seat on the town's parks and recreation commission last March with a write-in campaign, and Bill Marshall, a retired geologist who believes root damage to dune grass on the beach is being made worse by a history of aggressive beach raking.
