Abstract
"News" piece noting that the Maine Green party may face a primary contest, with Jonathan Carter, John Jenkins, and Steven Farsaci all having indicated some interest in the nomination. Carter ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 1992 and for governor in 1994. John Jenkins, a former Democrat, who served as mayor of Lewiston from 1994 to 1997, and as a state senator in 1997-98, quit the Democrat party last summer and declared himself an independent. Jenkins is toying with the idea of again changing his party affiliation, while Farsaci, a Baptist pastor in West Harpswell, stressed his possible candidacy is a "remote possibility."
