Abstract
"Arts" piece about the musical "Islands," which was written by singer-song writer Cindy Bullens and dramatist John Wulp. "Islands" is an ode to the people who live and work on North Haven, 15 miles off the coast of Rockland. The show, which succeeds in presenting an honest portrait of the island, has also had a healing effect on a deep division that developed when some islanders sought to fire Barney Hamilton, the principal of North Haven Community School, because he allegedly diluted the core curriculum with too many field trips, too much independent study, and too much art.
