Abstract
"News" piece on about 20,000 acres in the area surrounding Tumbledown Mountain, which is adjacent to Mount Blue State Park near Weld. A Senate amendment earmarked $1 million from the federal Forest Legacy program toward purchasing and protecting the land, which includes one of the most heavily used hiking trails in Maine. The Tumbledown Conservation Alliance recently announced a major private fundraising campaign with a target of $1.8 million needed by Dec. 31, which is the deadline for completing the purchase.
