Abstract
"News" piece on a legislative bill that would have allowed a nonprofit group to grow and distribute marijuana to those holding a prescription for the substance under the state's medical marijuana law. The Legislature's Health and Human Services and Judiciary committees, reacting to a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision against a state-sponsored marijuana-growing operation in California, both effectively killed the effort. Other options, which may include expanding the number of marijuana plants that can be grown privately under the law, may be voted on by the committees on Jan. 18.
