Abstract

"News" piece on a group of University of Maine academics who are writing a book using oral histories of 12 women who, in 1972, founded Spruce Run, the state's first domestic violence program, in Bangor. Ann Schonberger, one of the authors and director of the university's women's studies program, said much of the feminist movement was driven by grassroots activists in rural areas whose histories have been neglected.
