Abstract
"News" piece on the 100-acre oceanfront Navy base at Schoodic Point in Hancock County, which is changing its role as a military communications hub to a civilian research and education facility. The National Park Service will accept the valuable property this summer, when the Navy leaves, and has awarded $250,000 to Acadia National Park's Schoodic Planning Team for developing programs and services at the site, which is one of 13 federally designated learning centers approved for park sites across the country.
