Abstract
"News" piece on Downeast lobstermen, who plan to protest an upcoming marine life trawl survey that is being funded by the National Marine Fisheries Service. Norbert Lemieux, president of the Downeast Lobsterman's Association, predicted the survey trawlers would be blockaded. The survey consists of dragging a net across the bottom for a mile in 100 random areas along the coast north from New Hampshire. The lobstermen say many lobsters are killed and maimed by the operation, and a majority of finfish that are netted end up dying. In addition, the lobstermen don't believe the data collected is accurate and fear it could lead to more fishing restrictions.
