Abstract

"News" piece on "liquidation harvesting," which is the practice of clearcutting forested tracts and breaking them up into house lots for a quick profit. There are increasing signs that the forest industry is taking the initiative to deal with it themselves by refusing to buy "dirty wood" from independent loggers. With details about a legislative bill that closed tax loopholes benefiting liquidators and strengthened reporting requirements under the Tree Growth Tax program.
