Abstract
Banks and credit unions are locked in a debate about the growth of credit unions and the contention by the American Bankers Association that credit unions are in fact banks. Joe Pietroski of the Maine Bankers Association says the distinction between banks and credit unions is blurred beyond recognition. John Murphy of the Maine Credit Union League says credit unions set a standard for the industry that bankers won't meet. Details.
