Abstract
Gov. King has set February 10 as the date for a vote on the people's veto of Maine's new gay rights law. Michael Heath of the Maine Christian Civic League, one of the co-sponsors of the referendum, said his group will try to raise $300,000 for the campaign. Maine Won't Discriminate raised more than $1 million for the campaign to defeat the 1995 anti-gay rights effort led by Concerned Maine Families. Pat Peard of MWD said the group planned to raise more than $300,000.
