Abstract

Letter to the editor from Donald L. Jones, chairman of the Midcoast Regional Transportation Advisory Committee, on state regulations that allow trucks weighing up to 100,000 pounds on the Maine Turnpike between Kittery and Augusta. Trucks on federal interstates are limited to 80,000 pounds, and the Federal Highway Adminstration is threatening to withhold $20 million in highway funds if Maine continues allowing heavier trucks.
