Abstract

Maine Yankee has proposed dismantling its emergency warning system and downsizing its emergency preparedness staff. Maine Yankee spokesperson Maureen Brown said the company believes an incident with off-site consequences is no longer possible, but longtime anti-nuclear activist Ray Shadis disagrees. Friends of the Coast, a group that monitors Maine Yankee activities, will file an objection to the plan with the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Details.
