Abstract

An up-to-date look at home heating costs based on the use of wood, solar, fossil fuel and electric energy sources. According to Dick Parker, an energy consultant, all fuels exist in marketplaces that are as affected by public perception and political decisions as by the delivered price. Parker says for clean air, and as a cardon dioxide preceptor, natural gas is great. It is also the cleanest and, arguably the cheapest commercially available fuel for Maine. But relying too much on natural gas will force the price up. With price comparisons by fuel type.
