Abstract
Book review of "North to the Night: A Year in the Arctic Ice," written by Alvah Simon of Camden Harbor and published by McGraw-Hill Companies. In 1994, Simon and his wife Diana sailed north to spend the winter locked in by the elements 100 miles from the nearest settlement. They chose Tay Bay, on the west side of tiny Bylot Island above the Arctic Circle. To finance their travels on the Roger Henry, their French-made, 36-foot steel cutter, they work odd jobs and give slide shows of their sailing experiences.
