Abstract

Computer networks throughout New England are being used by Maine's environmental groups for communication and to gain access to data. The Natural Resources Council of Maine and the Island Institute have hired full-time information managers to facilitate computer services, while the Maine Audubon Society, the Military Toxics Project and the Maine Peoples Alliance have all logged on to networks. Some of the networks being used by the groups include Econet, TRANET (Transnational Network), the Eastern Northern America Native Forest Network and GAIA. Details.
