Abstract

The board of the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization on May 4 voted to oppose plans by Phineas Sprague Jr. to lay 4,000 feet of temporary track for his proposed narrow-gauge railroad around Portland's East End. The group will vote this week on opposing the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad under any circumstances. The group says residents of Munjoy Hill are concerned about emissions from the trains, but Sprague insists they won't degrade the city's air quality.
