Abstract

After receiving a large amount of undersized gray sole and dabs, the Portland Fish Exchange notified boats that federal law prohibits landing those fish if they measure less than 14 inches in length. Since then, the number of illegal sole (witch flounder) and dabs (American plaice) being delivered to the exchange pier has decreased dramatically.
