Abstract

The Portland Newspapers last week announced that Bruce J. Gensmer, former vice president of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, will replace Christopher M. Harte as president of the Gannett-owned newspapers. Sources at the paper say that Harte opposed a proposal by the Gannett-owned Kennebec Journal and Central Maine Morning Sentinel to begin publication of a joint Sunday edition that would compete with the Maine Sunday Telegram.
