Abstract
The town of Stonington, situated at the tip of Deer Isle off the end of the Blue Hill peninsula, is Hancock County's major seaport, and in 1992 it recorded landings of marine products valued at $20.36 million. Some in Stonington feel the town will be the last fishing community in Maine to let tourism take over. Others see it as becoming another Boothbay Harbor in 20 years, with a downtown jammed with tourist attractions and the people from away outnumbering residents on any given day during the summer.
