Abstract

The International Dental Health Foundation, after examining the amount of sodium bicarbonate in the leading baking soda toothpastes, reports that Tom's of Maine contains less than one percent. Matt Chappell, spokesman for Tom's of Maine of Kennebunk, disputed the findings, but refused to reveal the actual baking soda content of the company's toothpaste. The highest ranking toothpaste contained 97 percent baking soda.
