Abstract

Cyrus Caldwell, 26, an inmate at the Maine State Prison in Thomaston, last week was found hanging in his cell, and officials believe he committed suicide. Inmate Dale Preston, who in July was placed in solitary confinement for comments he made to independent gubernatorial candidate Angus King about the alleged 1988 suicide of inmate Gary Penney, on Monday said Caldwell's cries for help went unanswered by guards.
