Abstract
Thomas Hammond & Son, a lumber mill founded in Hiram in 1947, is now managed by two of the founder's grandchildren, and the company operates with a major respect for the environment. Wilbur Hammond, the son of Thomas, has been active in the National Forests Products Association and the American Lumber Standards, and believes in service to the community. The company uses a byproduct of orange-processing where others use chemicals, and has done extensive research to eliminate the problems caused by trying to hurry along the drying of wood. Details.
