Abstract
Watt Samaki, the Buddhist temple that serves 800 Cambodian Buddhists in southern Maine, is on Dedham Street in Portland's Riverton area. The Venerable Sovan Mak, who came to Portland last summer from Oakland, California, is the fifth monk to serve Maine's Cambodian community since 1987. Cambodian Buddhism is more monk-centered than the Buddhism that has been most commonly embraced in the West. Details, related articles.
