Abstract
Patagonia introduced its post-consumer recycled Synchila sweater in 1993, with each pullover made out of 26 soda bottles. Recycled soda bottles are now in fleece jackets made by L.L. Bean and Cannondale, Land's End long johns, Acorn fleece slippers and socks made by Wigwam. What's fueling the recycled apparel movement is Fortrel EcoSpun, a textile fiber produced by Wellman Inc. of New Jersey. Details.
