Abstract

The Portland Public Library will close its Main library for two weeks beginning June 30th. Due to budget constraints, the library is relocating some of its materials and service desks within the 5 Monument Square location. Members of the West End Neighborhood Association would like the library's board of directors to hold open meetings attended by all the neighborhood groups involved in the library's plans for next year. Other members are questioning plans to move children's books from the Main library to the East End School, saying that some of the books could be taken to the Reiche branch.
