During the preparation for OpSail 2000, archivist Abraham A. Schechter had been the senior technician and master printer at the reknowned custom lab Portland Photographics, located at 85 York Street- near the Portland waterfront. He was able to make these images close to the sailing ships, before the crowds arrived. He used Ilford HP-5 film, developed in Agfa Rodinal developer.
