Description

Full exterior view of Calderwood Baking Company (F.N. Calderwood Inc., wholesale bakers), 61 Pleasant Street, from south. West-facing wall sign reads, "Calderwood's Enriched Bread and Old Settler Donuts." Intersection of Maple Street and Pleasant Street, in foreground.

By 1977, the Calderwood Bakery building became property of Portland School of Art (later known as Maine College of Art), and the building was used throughout the 1980s and 1990s for classroom areas, exhibit galleries, studio spaces (Printmaking, Drawing, Jewelry & Silversmithing, Ceramics, Sculpture), a wood shop, and the James B. Goodbody Auditorium.
