Named after a longtime Portland High School principal, Reiche School was built in 1973, as the magnet elementary school and community center for the West End and Parkside neighborhoods. Part of the school's footprint covered over the former Varnum Street, Bradford Street, and the portion of Spruce Street between Clark Street and Brackett Street.
