    Description

    Full exterior views of Valle's Steak House restaurant, 660 Forest Avenue (Woodfords Corner), from southeast. Woodford Street at left; Forest Avenue at right.
    Donald D. Valle, who immigrated to Portland from Lettomanoppello, Italy with his parents, started his business at Woodfords Corner in 1933 by leasing a tavern where the restaurant later stood at 660 Forest Avenue. In 1960, Valle added the location at 1150 Brighton Avenue (which was in business until August 2000). At its peak in 1981, the Valle's chain included 32 restaurants from Maine to Florida.
