Full exterior view of the Maine Eye and Ear Infirmary, 79 Bramhall Street (794-800 Congress Street) at Bramhall Square, from north. Frank E. Robbins Pharmacist drug store on ground floor. Robbins was in business at this location from 1924 - 1935.
Designed by Portland architect John Calvin Stevens, the building was constructed from 1885-1892. In 1951, the Infirmary merged with Maine General Hospital (later known as Maine Medical Center). The building was converted into apartment housing in 1997, and renamed Holt Hall, after the Eye and Ear Infirmary's founder Dr. Erastus Eugene Holt.
